Last year we said goodbye to our beloved Canon ImagePROGRAF IPF6400 banner printer due to the discontinuation of genuine Canon ink cartridges. That model did a fantastic job covering over 10 years, but we felt like it was time for a change, instead of just using compatible cartridges.
In came our gorgeous Canon ImagePROGRAF IPF8400SE to pick up where its predecessor left off.
With ink cartridges over 2.5x larger, faster printing speed, and vibrant prints with the use of Canon’s 6-colour LUCIA EX ink system, the upgrade was a no-brainer! “Canon’s 6-Colour LUCIA EX Ink system is formulated for vibrant point-of-purchase materials and retail signage that are eye-catching. A new red ink is added to the existing C, M, Y, BK and MBK colours for expanded colour gamut in the yellow-red regions.”
We’ve definitely been putting it to the test recently, with variations of different banner materials whilst working on solutions for clients. We recently suggested using hanging branding and they agreed that it would be a good idea, small, lightweight pieces of cylindrical wood were placed at the bottom of the banners to give them a bit of weight, preventing them from curling up. We purchased new banner material with a plastic backing coat to mitigate the risks of ink leaking through. We look forward to utilising the full width of that printer for future jobs.
